Dahlia by Diana Duffey

December 2024 - Dahlia

About the Image(s)

I used my Sony R4 on a tripod with a a 90mm macro lens. ISO 100, F5.6, SS 1/60. In Lightroom, I adjusted the shadows
and added some light to the center of the flower. In Photoshop, I add a texture by selecting some of the color from the flower.

Diana,
This is lovely. Where do you find a dahlia in the winter?
I love the colors in the petals, they add depth and your background is nice and soft. Beautiful .   Posted: 12/12/2024 02:21:53

Thank you Donna. This dahlia is from garden. My dahlia bulbs are all in storage now. We just had a couple of very cold days. It went down to 11 degrees! Can't wait to start planting my dahlias again!   Posted: 12/16/2024 01:25:18

I wish I could grow Dahlias here but it's just too hot. They'd have to be in shade by early afternoon and only catch the morning sun. I just don't know how I would do that. I can hope to buy some in the stores. Merry Christmas !   Posted: 12/21/2024 20:31:46

Diana, all I can say is that the image is stunning. The background blends perfectly with the flower and beautifully accents the faint colors in the center. Very nicely done!   Posted: 12/14/2024 17:22:11

This a beautiful image Diana, softly lit and moving from clear focus at the front to soft focus at the rear. The violet line markings through the petals add interest too. Overall an image where one can gaze and take in the details and feel calmed by it all.   Posted: 12/15/2024 06:52:40

Beautiful, calming shot. I would like to see focus into the middle of the dahlia. Maybe a very slight KC B&W texture over the background would be nice.   Posted: 12/18/2024 02:07:44
