I've been experimenting with my Lens Baby Velvet 56, which I bought on a fantastic sale, as it had been a demo.
I don't even remember where I found this rose; in someone's yard. I took it with my Nikon, probably on F5.6 or F4 -- unfortunately with Lens Baby you can't go back and check. It's all manually focused.
I then covered it with a texture to give it a nicer background. I still didn't like it so I added another texture and didn't remove all of it from the rose, so I was able to keep the soft look of the flower. Please let me know what you think.

Donna, nice capture especially knowing that you used a Lens Baby. I have always found them difficult to work with. The texture really adds a new dimension to the image. Posted: 12/14/2024 17:24:16
Yup LensBaby is tricky but I'm going to keep trying !

I do like the soft look you have created Donna. And the clarity of the front petals fading away to softness in the back. And the textures add a painterly look. Flowers are beautiful and so often photographed for that reason. It is good to view an image which is a little different from a straight shot. Keep trying the things you are trying and and I'm sure you will find new and different ways to show the beauty of flowers. Posted: 12/15/2024 06:22:18
Donna, nice capture using the LB 56. I like how you were able to get the front petals in focus. Donna, I would lower the opacity of the texture a bit and clone a little of the texture on the upper right side where too much blue is showing. Posted: 12/16/2024 00:32:28
I really like the image. I need to go back to my Velvet 56.
