Suzanne, I've always been fond of high?key portraits. I made a few additional adjustments to your image by isolating the background and increasing its brightness to reduce the remaining shadow areas while still maintaining a slight shadow area around the base of the musician and the instrument. I then selected the subject and applied a separate brightness adjustment to enhance the overall high-key effect   Posted: 04/02/2026 14:44:04
Thanks very much, Richard.   Posted: 04/03/2026 02:43:17
Suzanne, your photograph is wonderful. I love the implied intensity of the musician and how her arm and bow form such a strong diagonal. Also, her hand with splayed fingers, combined with the position of her legs and feet, anchors the cello. I'm impressed that you saw the beauty and appeal of this scene.
Your choice to make this a high-key image is excellent. Like Richard, I decided to play with it a bit. My modifications were very minor but intended to further enhance the high-key feeling (and slightly brighten her forehead). Your thoughts?

For me the conversion to a white background makes this a real winner   Posted: 04/07/2026 20:20:21
Hi Suzanne, this is great: really well conceptualized and executed. Congratulations on an intriguing image. I love the delicate placement of her bow hand. I like the tweaks that Richard and Pete have made. The only thing that caught my eye was the moire on her right leg which you could remove with a touch of blur.   Posted: 04/07/2026 21:04:23
Thanks, Mark. Good pick up!   Posted: 04/09/2026 05:18:14
