About the Image(s)
One more photo about Saint Petersburg…
Saint Petersburg is not only about palaces, museums, bridges, stone embankments and unique well-like courtyards…
Saint Petersburg located along the shores of the Baltic Sea also is one of the biggest seaports of Russia. It famous not only by architecture landmarks also by fogs of autumn’s Baltic weathers. Like on this photo…

Natalia, I've enjoyed learning about Saint Petersburg. It's a fascinating and beautiful city.
I like your use of plants and leaves to grab the viewer's attention, followed by the leading lines of the walkway and wall leading back to the ship. Well seen!
Since I find it fun and useful to play with excellent photographs, I decided to try a significant conversion with yours. My modifications were all done in Camera Raw, except for the horizontal flipping, which was done in Photoshop.
What do you think?

Thank you, Mark. I've been playing with conversions from daytime to nighttime and this image immediately made me think of that.   Posted: 12/11/2025 01:30:05
Hi Natalia, thanks for sharing your knowledge about St Petersburg!
I love live what Peter did with your photo and I could not offer any improvements..maybe add the reflection of the leaves since you have the puddle of water   Posted: 12/02/2025 15:19:36

Hi Natalia obviously you are drawing our attention to the Autumn leaves and focus falls off quickly behind them. So I would be inclined to crop the image so you just retain a glimpse of the port in the distance. I guess this means not making the fog the hero.   Posted: 12/03/2025 21:18:37
Hi Natalia. Well done on getting low! It gives us a unique perspective. When I first look at the image, my eye is drawn straight out to the port. If it's the leaves you want the viewer to focus on then consider darkening down the rest of the image and even cropping off some of the top. I do like Pete's version. Even if you didn't want to take it as far, perhaps consider what your image would look like with just the horizontal flip. I think that might help the viewer to see the leaves straight away.   Posted: 12/08/2025 00:15:16
I really like the perspective and the leaves. It makes me think of passing by time and being in the "Fall of Life", but still having a path ahead into future that is rather misterious and foggy. I like it the way it is and don't have any suggestions.   Posted: 12/09/2025 17:58:55
Hi that!
Colleagues, thank you for your comments!
Oliver, your version of the photo in absolutely different, but I like it! Really like it!!!
Perfect! My husband (who is also a photographer) and I both agree that this photo is more time better than original!
Thanks a lot :)   Posted: 12/17/2025 06:36:07
