About the Image(s)

The Ruby-crowned Kinglet is a very tiny bird. It is very active, and a little difficult to shoot well. In this photo, I like the bird interacting with the environment. I like the composition. In post-processing, I adjusted the lighting and cleared up the background.

Camera: Nikon Z8, Lens: 500mm, Exposure: 1/2500 sec at f/8.0, ISO 5600

Xiao, your Ruby-crowned Kinglet is a fantastic capture. I love the composition with the bird's wing reaching out, combined with the branch arching over him. Very well done!

As with many wonderful images, I played with yours in Camera Raw to try slightly different lighting. Your thoughts?

Xiao, outstanding image of a very small, very sharp Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Like Pete's work on the bird but also felt that the extra space on the left detracted from the nice detail. What do you think?   Posted: 07/08/2025 13:13:58

Xiao, nice picture!
Well cropped and blurring. Subject (bird) is sharp.
There are no ideas for improvement.
Probably just crop according to idea of Tom.   Posted: 07/08/2025 14:32:18

Xiao, agree with the other comments about the composition and the moment of capture. I like Pete's post-processing but I like Tom's cropping.   Posted: 07/12/2025 22:02:54
