About the Image(s)
We visited Kashmir late last year having no idea that its peace would be disrupted some months later by terrorist attacks on tourists. But it is a wonderful place. This day we got up very early to see the floating vegetable market on Lake Dal and this photo was shot on the way back in full golden hour. I haven't included an original because little was done to the file other than bringing out shadows in the boatman's face and cloning out an untidy flock of birds.

Thanks Pete, yes I think removing clutter on the skyline is a good idea and he does improve being brighter. Which begs the question should the background be darker? A case of what is the primary focus!   Posted: 07/04/2025 20:41:18
Mark, I agree that it would be good to have a darker background. However, if you do that it will be important not to make it so dark that the image is obviously post-processed.

Mark, Love this.. I agree with Pete's comments and processing. Something to consider is change the color of the young mens white shirt to a bright color so it will not look washed out.

Mark, This image portrays a wonderful story of this part of Kashmir. I like the post-processing that Pete has done. The background is an important part of the story. If you choose to darken, I would suggest by 1/3 to 1/2 of a stop.   Posted: 07/13/2025 01:29:44
Hi Mark, A beautiful image, well done! Because the man was in main focus point, I prefer the background is a little blur. But I like the evironment, so I think the man is a little distraction here. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 07/23/2025 15:57:37
