About the Image(s)

Taken at a local women's rugby match. I cropped quit a lot and converted to mono. I haven't photographed women's rugby before so I am on a steep learning curve. Unfortunately it was their last match of the season.

Taken at 1/1500sec f/6.7 ISO 500 at 100mm on a 100-400 lens.

It is a great action shot, the poor woman is trying desperately to keep position of the "ball". I would like to see a little more of the woman on the left side. Although the B&W captures the struggle, it dismisses the fact that the woman holding onto the ball is outnumbered 3 to 1.   Posted: 04/05/2025 20:54:33

This is a standout action shot that communicates the fierce intensity of the game and the athletes' commitment. It's both documentary and artistic in nature-a celebration of sport, strength, and the human spirit.
I agree with Richard the crop is tight on the left edge, with part of the players's leg clipped. I also prefer the color vs B&W.   Posted: 04/08/2025 01:51:08

Love the intensity of this and the perfect positioning of that flattened nose of the woman with the ball. Great teamwork from the red team trying to keep the ball from being grounded! I also like the color better!   Posted: 04/09/2025 04:13:06

David, from the earlier comments, it appears that the color version has more buy-in. Nonetheless, I think the B&W version is appealing. My only problem with it is that nothing is drawing my attention to the ball. With that in mind...

Your thoughts?
