About the Image(s)
I've recently been exploring theater photography, and this photo was taken during a dress rehearsal at my local theater. The show had an Elvis Presley theme, with all the actors wearing blue suede shoes. To match the show's aesthetic, I converted the image to black and white with a subtle blue tone overlay. I love how this shot captures the energy and movement of the performance, as well as the distinct expressions of the actors, making each character feel unique.

Nice shot. Sharp focus. Good framing. Did you used a tripod? Good conversion to monochrome, with suitable contrast.
I am guessing you got to shoot at a dress rehearsal of a drama group you know or belong to? From the dancing and maybe singing actors and piano design on the set floor, it looks quite obviously like a musical production. I wonder what the name of the musical is, especially if it is one of the classics. Maybe one of the actors is your relation or friend? I wonder if this is a professional or amateur production, and what city or theater it is in? How did you like doing this photo shoot? Do you shoot theater often?
I do wish you had told some stories here.   Posted: 04/01/2025 20:54:02

Hi Stephen,
It appears Barbara hasn't had a chance yet to include the information I submit with my photo. Once she does, I believe most of your questions will be addressed.
In short, yes-this is an amateur production at our local theater. I've recently started exploring show photography and have been focusing on navigating challenging lighting conditions, such as strobe lighting, while also learning how to "capture the feel" of a production. At this stage, I'm shooting all images handheld, and really just having fun learning about this type of photography.   Posted: 04/01/2025 23:04:38
