About the Image(s)

This photo was taken in mid-September going from Durango, Co. to Denver. The fall colors were just starting to appear. Post-processing: First, in LightRoom, I cropped in from the top and bottom; then I removed the structure on the left. In Photoshop, I used the Luminar NEO filter with the Landscape presets to restore the colors as I remembered when I took the photograph.

Exposure: 1/160 @ f/6.3 ISO: 250

Richard, I really like this landscape. I feel that it is really five or six interesting horizontal layers and the offset barn really makes it. Your crop is perfect and the sharpness and clarity is excellent. Might just tone down the roof of the barn slightly but nothing else.   Posted: 03/07/2025 10:54:18

Hi Richard. Love the Teo strong diagonal lines provided by the cliff face and the bare trees. The light from the left is beautiful too. Agree with David about toning down the roof. Lovely image!   Posted: 03/08/2025 16:42:32

Such a fascinating image. It really tells a story about that area of Colorado. As I looked at your photograph, I wondered what it might be like as a monochrome. So, off to Camera Raw to see what I could do. Your thoughts?

Richard. Magnificent photo! I agree with Tom's comments and I love what Peter did with the B&W especially the roof texture! Great image   Posted: 03/19/2025 11:56:34

I prefer your version to Pete's mono. I think you have done an excellent job with the post processing. I am not sure I would darken the roof and if I did it would be by only a small amount as currently we are drawn to the barn which is the focal point and it could be lost in the background.   Posted: 03/22/2025 11:18:23

Richard, outstanding landscape! The layering and composition create a strong visual story, and your crop is spot-on. Like David mentioned, subtly toning down the roof might help balance attention without losing the barn as a focal point-I agree the color version works beautifully here.   Posted: 03/30/2025 10:03:54
