About the Image(s)
I took this photo during a trip to the zoo with my kids. The intricate patterns on the snake immediately caught my attention and made for an interesting close-up subject. The image showcases the snake’s detailed scales and mesmerizing gaze. I did face some challenges with color balance due to the red hue from the heat lamp in the enclosure, but it added a unique warmth to the shot that emphasized the reptile's natural tones.
Captured with settings of ISO 12800, 105mm focal length, f/6.7, and a shutter speed of 1/125s,

Keisha, it's a fascinating and frightening image! I love photographs that evoke an emotion in the viewer, even if the emotion is fear. The sharpness of the snake's eye is excellent. I am curious about the relative blurriness of the snake's scales at the bottom/right of the image. It seems roughly the same distance from the camera as the sharper portions on each side.
Well done!

Hi Oliver, I was shooting through the glass. I think you're seeing a smudge. As you pan left the scales get clearer.   Posted: 03/03/2025 19:19:58
This is a great shot. I agree with Pete, it exudes fear. There is a "Snake Wrangler" in our photography club who says rattlesnakes are not aggressive if you stay your distance. I think its better with a piece of glass between us. Thanks Keisha for sharing.   Posted: 03/03/2025 17:02:29
lol….If I saw this guy in his natural habitat. No photos for me… I'd be too busy running.   Posted: 03/03/2025 19:23:00
Gorgeous image Keisha. I like the intense warm brown hues. If that smudge us an issue you could always crop in and you have an equally valid image   Posted: 03/08/2025 16:23:02
