About the Image(s)

I took this photograph about eight years ago in Graffiti Alley, a wonderful location in Baltimore. The alley is fairly short, L-shaped, and is surrounded by buildings. The buildings' owners have permitted people to paint graffiti on the alley walls. The images are different each time I go there, and occasionally, the “artists” are at work. It’s also a favorite location for photographers to bring models. The person in this image is someone I don’t know. However, she was kind enough to pose for me.

Processing was done with Camera Raw and consisted primarily of manipulating the lighting so the woman would be the center of focus.

Hi Pete, I like the photo and the position of the model! Great job is making her pop. Couple small sugestions. Fix the window on the left. Painted yellow? 2)tone down her watch 3)darken/remove all white spots on the ground. I hope my coments make sense.   Posted: 01/04/2025 02:20:14

Hi Pete What a striking image! So much color!! Agree with lifting the light on your model and the rest of the image doesn't need anything. Great job!   Posted: 01/04/2025 03:43:34

Pete, the bright colors grab your attention. Sophia has a knack for spotting distractions, however, additionally, your model's toes seem to have suffered along the way from post-processing. Overall, a job well done.   Posted: 01/04/2025 17:22:24

Wow! You and Sophia have "eagle eyes"! Thank you, Richard. I'll add the toe "fix" to Sophia's suggestions.

You have chosen a great background for your subject and her placing in the frame for me is perfect. I do find the model and the artwork are competing and I to overcome this would desaturate the background and brighten the model. I addition to the comments made by Sophia and Richard I would also take out the white parts of her jeans and also her medallion.   Posted: 01/11/2025 09:56:22

Great suggestions, David. I really like the darkened background. The colors in my submission are too bright and vivid. They detract from the subject.

I like the posing and the choice of graffiti as the background. Making the changes offered by Sophia and Richard and it's good to go. Very Nice.   Posted: 01/14/2025 16:03:40
