About the Image(s)
The Taranaki Falls are on the side of a dormant volcano and I was there as part of a workshop last weekend. Treatment included making the white balance cooler and some edits of the brights and darks. The rocks are naturally very dark but I have gone for something more towards a black and white image. Shot at 1/5 sec to even out the flow of water and create flow lines.

Hi Mark, this is a great photo! The long exposure at 1/5 second does wonders for creating those smooth flow lines in the water, which contrasts beautifully with the dark, rugged rocks. I can see you leaned into the naturally dark tones of the rocks to push towards a black-and-white look, and it totally works - the bright and dark edits give it such depth and atmosphere. This would make a great photo to enlarge and showcase in your house.   Posted: 11/01/2024 09:27:17

Spectacular image Mark. Excellent post-processing which has brought the texture of the rocks. I like the cooler white balance treatment, it matches the total feel of the image.   Posted: 11/01/2024 15:59:46

Hi Mark, I agree this is fantastic photo. I love waterfalls and you capture it perfectly. The only small suggestion I have is that you might want to darken the moss on the right a bit more since they are only two or clone a 3rd one for balance . On the same stone darken the white spots on the right side. Very special photo   Posted: 11/04/2024 15:53:03

I agree with previous comments. Whilst I like the finished image I also think the original is very good not better but different. You have smoothed the water with your long shutter and for me you have the perfect exposure.   Posted: 11/12/2024 10:55:17

Mark, I like the image, but also agree with Davis that the original is just as good. I would have a tough time choosing between them if I had to pick one. For my taste, I see nothing that I would change.   Posted: 11/13/2024 15:44:50
