About the Image(s)
Last month's image was from a sunset cruise on the Detroit River. Here is one more from that cruise. This is one of my best images of the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.
This image was photographed with my iPhone 17 Pro Max using Adobe Project Indigo camera app as a true RAW image. It was processed in Lightroom Mobile and then resized in Photoshop. I had taken a similar image with my OMI MKII but it was unable to capture the full scale of the iPhone.
Last week I walked across it and will share one next month.

I see why you like this one. The bridge stands out with the brightness of it against the darker background. The building silhouettes really add to the atmosphere. The setting sun is the cherry on top. I like the waving flags also and the shades of indigo blue.   Posted: 10/03/2026 18:43:16
Bill, I agree with Vella's comment, now the bright orange looks more like a flame rather than the sunset ? Interesting as how all the wires of the bridge are nicely visible with only a slight moire effect on the top. Nice blue hour capture.   Posted: 10/03/2026 19:24:50
Hi Isaac, thanks for your comments. The background an area called Zug Island.
The main occupant is a large steel-making complex, now operated by U.S. Steel's Great Lakes Works. It includes blast furnaces, coke ovens, and other heavy-industry infrastructure, along with rail lines, docks, and storage for iron ore, coal, and limestone. The bright flame is the burning of industrial gasses. I got lucky.   Posted: 10/03/2026 19:32:56

Hi Bill
I can so see why this was your favourite image your framing is superb especially on the left hand side just capturing the end of one set of support wires leading into the full span of the next leading the eye so easily across the image, you have confirmed my thoughts that the orange light is from an industrial site and the orange sits so well with the blue of the sky and water,I hope you have printed this and have it on your wall it is superb.   Posted: 10/07/2026 11:33:29

Bill, I really love this picture. As others have commented, the lines of the bridge, the color of the sky, the orange glow all help to make this an outstanding image. In the visual feedback I removed (on my iPhone so it may not be perfect) the object (building maybe) on the right hand side. The Detroit/Windsor area must be proud of this masterpiece. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 10/08/2026 11:50:53
Bill, I like this very much, especially the way the illuminated steam cloud lies up almost perfectly with the support wires of the bridge. Gary's removal of the object (building?) at the RHS improves the picture as an art image, but I'm never happy about removing objects in a recognizable landscape - although I have done it myself on one occasion. What do others think? Is it photojournalism or art?   Posted: 10/08/2026 15:06:30
