October 2026 - There’re in love-Burrowing Owls
About the Image(s)
How I did it-June 2025 at Cape Coral we saw 50+Owls by 10 AM. I like this image as it displays strong emotion. Tools for the day. OM1 Mark 11body fitted with an OM 150 to 400mm lens. Settings were 400 ISO at f7.1 @ 1600 of a second. I was seated using a monopod.

Nicely done Erik. The Owls, symmetrically placed and with heads together, draws and hold the viewer's eyes. They are very nicely complemented by the soft green back ground. What do you think she is whispering to him? Posted: 10/01/2026 20:05:00
Another one I am jealous of, I have yet to see one of them. Perhaps I shall make a trip to Cape Coral. Nice soft background and the green compliments the brown of the owls. Nice we can see both faces. Posted: 10/03/2026 18:57:14
Erik, yes they are in love. Perfect hug and the eyes semi closed intensifies the loving act. Image is sharp. Good that you were able to get both birds in focus with f/8. The only missing information is the focal length used. Posted: 10/03/2026 19:16:27
The focal length was 320 mm. Posted: 10/08/2026 13:15:02
I think she is saying, "Don't look now but he's using an OM1 with a big zoom lens at 320 mm."
Seriously Erik, this is another of your brilliant nature shots. Good unobtrusive background nicely out of focus. I love the expressions on their faces - almost human! Posted: 10/08/2026 15:25:19

Hi Erik
I think he is saying to her the papparazzi is here you hide behind me.
I watched a wonderful documentary on British t,v, last year about these owls how they nest in peoples front gardens it was fascinating, the DOF is superb and the brown plumage and green background sit so well together you have again captured behaviour in the natural world to perfection.
