About the Image(s)
While cruising in Antarctica, and after the ship Captain navigated around the huge iceberg for us to appreciate, we came across another cruise ship just in front of the iceberg. It gives us an idea of the size.
Image created with the Nikon D4 with the Nikkor zoom lens 28-300 mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 135 mm and these settings: ISO 200, f/8 and 1/1250 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped

Oh my that is big and I see another one in the distance. Everything is sharp, including the wrinkles in the iceberg where one can see the aqua color. You got the exposure given you had two different whites to contend with. Actually 3 whites I just noticed the wakes in front of the bow and stern of the boat and the other iceberg.   Posted: 10/03/2026 18:36:49
Good composition and placement of the ship to give a sense of scale. You have excellent exposure and not having the white ice blown out.   Posted: 10/05/2026 03:25:30
Hi Isaac
This trip must have been a fabulous experience, the ship gives such a scale to the size of the iceberg, the iceberg in the distance gives wonderful balance to the image and the blue hue indicates how cold it must have been. Tis is a wonderful photo travel image.   Posted: 10/06/2026 11:21:37

Some ice cube! Get that into your gin & tonic! Excellent travel image showing the size and menace of the iceberg. Putting the ship in front of berg gives a very good comparison of the relative sizes, but unfortunately creates a difficult separation of the whites. Not a lot you can do about that.   Posted: 10/07/2026 16:39:21
Isaac, I agree with Guy. Good composition and very enlightening to those of us who have never been there. The size is immense. But whites against whites are tough. You did a good job getting the separation that you did.   Posted: 10/08/2026 11:54:52
