About the Image(s)
A couple of weeks ago we were visiting our son in Maryland, and he with his friends took me to a Venezuelan (where I come from) rock band concert. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desorden_P%C3%BAblico) They are very popular there, and this was their 40th anniversary USA tour. The main singer shown here is very eloquent and most of the songs played are his work. I was down in the public, all standing only, and since I had a real camera they did not object my walking in front of them and come close to the stage. I took a bunch of images, and I like his face expression here.
The image was created with the Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor zoom lens 24-70 mm f/2.8 @ 70 mm and these settings: ISO (auto) 25600, f/2.8 and 1/100 sec. Obviously, the venue was very dark and with color light illumination. The image was PP in LightRoom, Denoised, some masking brushes, and cropped. I did not want to eliminate the heads in the right lower corner using AI. I am showing a B&W interpretation which eliminates the odd colors. The original is also shown.

I know so well from covering Latin American music events stage lighting is great for performers and a disaster for photographers so like you I always convert to mono.
The head does not bother me the main subject is so well lit your eye goes straight to him and the wonderful expression just holds your gaze. If you tried to crop it the guitar would be too tight or slightly cropped.
A great image and I hope you showed those youngsters some real dance moves.   Posted: 04/06/2026 18:20:02
