Autumn Stroll by Ian Chantler

December 2025 - Autumn Stroll

About the Image(s)

Following on from last months image a similar one but without water and hopefully giving you an idea of the beautiful rural area I now find myself, last months image showed one of the 2 routes I have into Lymm village this is the other a section of the Pennine trail which runs parallel with the canal and is 5 minutes stroll from my front door, we have a themed club competition coming up in the New Year called a splash of red so I had been hoping to catch someone walking along the trail wearing an article of red clothing and on my fourth attempt I got lucky I left it until this time of year as I wanted to catch the trees at their Autumnal best,I promise this is the last one I have and it will be a different subject in January.

How I did it

Canon EOS 5D Mk III lens Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM f6.3,1/250s, ISO 640 focal length 105mm Raw file adjusted in photoshop, added an Orton effect using several masked layers, cropped all round and opened up the shadows slightly, a 2 stroke border added.

How lucky to live in such a picturesque area. You were able to capture the leaves glowing gold which is very pleasing. I enjoy the circular motion of the leaves At first I thought the people were too small but now I think that any larger could distract from the overall ambiance. This is a beautiful peaceful image.   Posted: 12/05/2025 18:35:25

Ian, the colorful forest in autumn colors is getting ready to engulf the walking people. I like the tunnel formation. Beautiful illumination with light strikes across the bottom. Image is sharp and nicely composed.   Posted: 12/07/2025 23:18:55

Ian, I can just see that you are enjoying retirement and the new surroundings that you've been sharing with us over the last several months. As others have said I like the peacefulness, serenity and the beauty of this scene.

I did do a little cropping from the right side to bring the disappearing point to the 1/3 point vertically in the middle horizontally. I also added a bit of a bin yet to keep the eye focused down the path. Keep sending more shots like this! Happy holidays to you and your family.   Posted: 12/10/2025 22:07:41

Ian, you chose well when finding a place to retire to! This is delightful and well composed. I wondered if you could just gently lighten the area of the people to pull the eye in a little more. Nice one anyway!   Posted: 12/16/2025 17:01:09
