Every year our small town hosts a carnival for the benefit of the locals Fire Department. I have been playing with "Blur" this summer and so thought I would test it out on a high speed ride. I was using my Canon 5D Mark IV and my 24-105mm lens set at 32mm focal length. My setup was ISO 200, f/8, and 1/10 sec. The last set was determined by testing different shutter speeds from about 1/5 up to 1/50. I found that if I went any slower, even when panning with the motion that I could not stop and ride care.
I processed this in LR Classic before removing distractions in PS. I sharpened in Topaz and used DxO Color Efex for Contrast.

Gary, you nailed it. Obviously the apparatus is going at a very fast speed, and your panning was fast enough to obtain a section of the image clear enough that you can describe the persons. Panning is tough and the success rate is very low. The only way, keep shooting.   Posted: 08/01/2025 20:22:32

Thanks, Isaac. You can only imagine how many shots I made trying to get the one good one.   Posted: 08/01/2025 20:32:00
