ISO 1250 182MM F/5.8 1/3200
Taken from a boat in the Pantanal around 5PM. Cropped, applied adjustments in Lightroom with exposure, texture and added the black adjustment. Thought it was too warm so cooled it down. Use Nik Sharpener to sharpen the eyes more. Added a vignette.

Nice shot Vella. This animal is clearly keeping an eye on you, but whether it considers you a threat or as food is not clear. However, judging by your original No 1, you were far enough away to make a quick escape if it decided to attack. Good sharp image and good eye contact. Posted: 07/05/2025 15:27:48
Vella, when I first looked at this, I was tempted to say that you should have used AI or general remove tools in Photoshop to take out the shadow of the jaguar. However, the more I look at it the more I think it would be very intriguing to use the same tools to strongly enhance the shadow on the background rocks. Posted: 07/08/2025 23:42:01
Interesting point about the shadow, never considered that. I am going to try that. I submitted it locally for competition but my wildlife images do not do well but I can resubmit with an enhanced shadow. Posted: 07/26/2025 20:41:04

She was walking and stopping and looking at a caiman in the water that had been killed by another boat a day before . There is so much food for all the critters no other jaguar even bothered to get the dead caiman. Posted: 07/26/2025 20:38:06
Very nice work Vella. I have had the opportunity to judge a few international exhibitions and the biggest fault I have seen in these types of images is poor composition and subject placement. Your exposure and color balance are spot on. Well done! Posted: 07/27/2025 17:23:34
