About the Image(s)

How I Did It:
This was taken during a photographic workshop in London (England) in September 2021. It was a workshop looking at architecture in London and for this we were at Canary Wharf in Docklands. I liked the unusual shape of the building and the reflections in the water. Taken on my Lumix G9 with the Leica 12-60 lens (24-120 equiv) at 12 mm. Weather was bight but the building was in shade. Exposure was 1/50 at f/8 with ISO 200. Back home I opened the file in ON1 RAW and applied NoNoise AI which seems to sharpen things up a bit. The I cropped a little to get the composition. Adjustments were made to brighten the building and darken the edges. I also applied the Sunshine filter which generally brightens up the contrast and brightness.

Guy, great architecture image and very sharp.I like the reflections in the water, and the fact that they are slightly darker than the real image which adds some mystery. The slight distortion by the moving water adds interest.   Posted: 02/07/2025 17:45:30

Well done Guy, as you stated an unusual building, boasting good soft color, great reflection, sharp throughout and perfect vertical lines. Having all buildings close together has created Tension and that ushers in perfect garden of Techinicals.   Posted: 02/07/2025 21:15:53

Guy, I really like the detail that this image contains. It gives the viewer much to look at and think about. One small change, for those of us in the western hemisphere. Our eyes tend to move through the image from left to right. For me the original causes some distraction as my eye wants to back up into the archway. I did not take the time to flip around the words "big easy" but I did flip the image left to right. At least for me it makes it more pleasing to the eye.   Posted: 02/10/2025 00:25:25

Gary, I take your point, but as it is such an easily recognised building I prefer it the correct way round. Thanks for your comment, but I thought Isaac was Dr Flip!   Posted: 02/10/2025 10:19:21

Perfect as is, no need for a flip. The slight rippled réflexion adds interest. The colors are beautiful and I love yellow so the spots of the yellow cones add a touch of brightness.   Posted: 02/15/2025 19:19:12
