About the Image(s)

Each year I create a desktop calendar for friends and family. I’ve tried each year to have a special theme. My calendar for 2025 features pictures of the recently restored Michigan Central Train Station which was purchased and restored by the Ford Motor Company at a cost of close to one billion dollars. As I was completing my project I didn’t have anything for December.

Follow attending a Thanksgiving Eve worship service in downtown Detroit we went over to see the Christmas lights at the station. As you can see from the before picture there wasn’t any snow so I had to create a snow scene in Photoshop. Since the image was taken with my iPhone 14 Pro Max in the Raw mode. Using the masking features in Lightroom and Photoshop I created snow in the foreground and added the text. Next I found free brushes on the internet that simulated falling snow. I was proud of myself and finished my calendar.

My best wishes to everyone for a merry Christmas and a great new year.

Excellent job changing the station to a Christmas scene. You successfully used several post tools to make for a very nice Christmas Card. I have never checked PS or DxO but I know On1 has an overlay for falling snow (if you have that SW) that makes it very easy. I constantly enjoy your creativity with both camera and iPhone. Keep them coming. Best wishes to you and your wife. Have a blessed and happy holiday.   Posted: 12/08/2024 20:41:09

Nice one Bill! What a good job the lights were already on the tree. It would have taken forever to put those on in PS.
I send my best wishes for Christmas and New Year to you and your family, and indeed to all my friends in Group 04.   Posted: 12/13/2024 12:08:14

What a delightful post processing. Gives us all ideas. The post processing is so creative. It is fitting the building looks golden.   Posted: 12/13/2024 21:50:20

Bill, Marry Christmas and Happy New Year 2 U 2!! Great postcard rendition and with snow from the original image. Good work with PS. Did you intentionally overlapped the tree with the building ?   Posted: 12/16/2024 17:22:34

It was the best composition I could come up with. I wanted to use the tree as framing. Sometimes you have to take what's available.   Posted: 12/17/2024 02:17:30
