About the Image(s)

ISO 2000 F/9 SS 1/250
Canon 5dIII Canon 16-35 f/4

Taken from a ferry in Norway Cropped in Lightroom, used Auto to start the process. Masked the sky to darken the clouds. For some reason took into an old program of Exposure 7 and used Kodak Ultra Color 100, took it into Color FX and use Darken Lighten Center, than in Lightroom used reverse vignetting, noise reduction on sky and bumped up the whites.

Vella, the fjords of Scandinavia are just really magnificent to photograph. Yo me the image looks flat. I did a few tweaks: made the water line straight, added Dehaze, texture and warmer light.   Posted: 12/05/2024 16:14:02

Definitely improved my image, could not figure out a way to enhance it so many thanks. Check out Gary's crop also.   Posted: 12/05/2024 22:27:05

Vella, in many ways I agree with Isaac. I also feel, based on my experience that you kept the wrong part of the image. In my VF I have left all of the water and cropped out a portion of the sky. My "tweaks" were to reduce the contrast in the sky which actually added more detail. I increased the contrast in the water and lightened the shadows to see more detail there. I also point selected the green foliage and lightened it plus point selected the blue in the water and slightly saturated it. The is what I came up with.   Posted: 12/05/2024 18:03:01

This is an interesting example of finding two different pictures from the same image. Isaac's version brings out the strength of the heavy clouds and is full of drama. Gary's version has a lighter and more delicate feel, bringing out the detail in the foreground water and the mid-ground hillsides. Two very different pictures which, according to PSA competition rules, must have the same title since they are from the same exposure!

Hi VELLA
Ha Ha well this image has the group all a buzz, which ever way you go its a beautiful Scandanavian Fjord scene which creates a memory of a wonderful trip for you
I find it very peaceful, tranquil and atmospheric to look at,I love the strands of low cloud they add so much to image,so I will throw my hat in the ring I would crop ever so slightly from the right and make the view down the Fjord a little more central.
You are the author of the image the final outcome is your choice.   Posted: 12/16/2024 16:27:05
