Street Painter by Dr Isaac Vaisman, APSA, PPSA

December 2024 - Street Painter

About the Image(s)

Street Painter was created a few years ago in Boynton Beach ??“ Florida where every year there is the Street painting festival on the main street of town which is closed to vehicles for the whole weekend. The artists are allocated a segment of the street where they must finish their piece of art in the two days after which they will be judged. This image is from a high, bird’s eye vantage point. The camera was mounted on a monopod and angled down with a wide-angle lens and activated by a remote control.
Used a Nikon Z6 with the lens 20 mm f/1.8 and with these settings: ISO 250, f/10 and 1/800 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped.

Isaac, a very good setup. I did not realize until I opened this on a 27" monitor that the artist and his shadow were at the bottom of the image. To my eye a good capture with the right exposure and sharpness.

Now my question for you as an expert judge is this. This seems to be a Photo-Journalism candidate but could you enter it with some one else's artwork in the image (assuming you did not get a written permission?)

Either way, a very creative image. Thanks for sharing it.   Posted: 12/06/2024 15:53:51

Hi Isaac
The seaside town I live in New Brighton started to invite some of Europes very best street artists to the town about 6 years ago and let them loose on various buildings along the main street and the the streets running off them the transformation is amazing,so I so love street art I love your position looking down on the artist and his brilliant creation it really really works for me.
I was asked by internationally renowned Nerone Locatell to document his work in New Brighton from start to finish which was amazing I have attached one of the pictures.   Posted: 12/10/2024 21:00:39

Isaac, that is a very sharp and detailed image of this street painter at work, and a very unusual view too. Without the painter, this would simply be a record (a very good one) of someone else's art. With the inclusion of the man doing his painting, this becomes a documentary record of what was happening here at the time. He appears to have painted some sort of fish, but I don't know what. The intricate tail makes me think of wrought iron trellis work. Could this be a Trellis Fish? :-)

Very sharp and interesting angle as said before. I like how you captured his hand with the brush and of course the beautiful colors.   Posted: 12/13/2024 21:46:34
