I had been out with a group of street photographers when we decided to drop into a local pub for a refreshment. I took this image as the lady behind the bar began to pour a beer.
I like the moodiness of the black and white version.
Post processing: Conversion to B&W with Nik silver efex pro, cropping and darkening the background
Tech stuff: Canon R5 with 50mm lens, 1/160, f/1.8, ISO 100

I love the remark of the "local pub." So much more charming than what is in the U.S.--bars! Good catch of the movement of her hand and the intensity of her face doing her job--maybe about to serve you! The B&W certainly catches a different mood, and the cropping brings the attention to her. Some people think that our language is kind of quaint, others simply don't understand what we are talking about. *laughs*

Two totaly different images.
The black and white takes the eye from the tap to glass to hand to face in an expressive and artistic manner. Great rendition!
The original however has more story and shows Carissa intent on pooring a Coopers for the expectant customer whose fist is shown clenching a tip! Just guessing but the clues and cues are all there. Cheers anyway! Posted: 08/04/2026 17:04:58

I see you are familiar with our local brewer - Coopers!
I am not sure why he has a clenched fist. There is a $20 note on the bar infront of him for payment.

As Piers has said, the color version has more of a story because of the surroundings. It gives me the impression of a very busy pub in an afternoon because of the two bartenders and the motion you captured in the woman's hand. I do like the crop of the B&W, however my eye keeps getting drawn to the gentleman's neck and arm. Posted: 08/14/2026 11:39:20

My preference is for the color version. The BW does disservice to Carissa and her complexion. Besides, I just like the colors of the entire scene. I do like the fact that you removed the hand of your fellow patron. That was distracting, even if he did have a $20 note in his hand.
