About the Image(s)

I took this image a few years ago in Havana, Cuba. My wife and I arrived in Cuba a day before we were to join an organised tour of the country. We hired a "photographic Guide" for the morning before the tour started.

He guided us through the back streets of Havana for an hour or so before we came out on the Paseo de Marti with the National Capital Building on the left and the Gran Teatro del La Habana ( Grand Theatre of Havana) in the background..
I sat on the kerb with my feet in the gutter quite close to a pedestrian crossing. As the cars stopped for each pedestrian to cross I had the perfect opportunity to photograph the cars as they lined up, facing me and waiting to continue their journeys.

Post production: Cropping

Tech stuff: Camera: Canon 5D Mk iii, 1/500 sec, f/9.0, ISO 200
Lens: Canon 24 - 105mm f4L IS USM @ 105mm

Wow! Perfection is hard to comment on. Not sure if that could only happens in Havana. To get the three colorful cars facing you with perfect composition and historic surroundings makes you both an intuitive and a strategic photographer. It would certainly win in both color and photo travel sections I think.   Posted: 12/05/2025 04:38:29

Ah, Havana. The classic, colorful American cars are iconic. How fortunate you were to be in the right place at the right time to capture this scene. Great historic background, too.
It took me a while to notice that both the green and blue vehicles are Taxis. Also, there is evidence of a second yellow car (behind the Blue car) that's made known by the yellow streak of reflection on the side of the green car. (See my submission for this month.)
Well done, Martin.   Posted: 12/08/2025 01:04:08

Martin, this is an outstanding iconic image. My wife and I have had the pleasure of spending several weeks in Havana and surrounding areas. The Cuban people are amazing and the photography was astounding!!! You captured the essence of Cuba.   Posted: 12/11/2025 19:30:32
