About the Image(s)

I found a goat enjoying an obstacle course in a playpen constructed by a farmer at a local market. I selected the goat while emerging from an arranged set of tires.
Edits: After the original image was cropped I found the tires did not contrast well despite increasing the black slider. I then set the cropped version as background and masked in the tires from a black and white conversion. Distracting areas inside the rings of tires were cloned out. I considered a black and white image but it was not as striking as the masked-in colored goat. For the monochrome conversion I used a photoshop preset labelled strong, increased the whites to the "white point" and then used a brush to reduce the highlights on the tires.
Settings: f/8, 1/500 sec, ISO 200,
The focal length was 105 mm shot with an RF 24-105 lens

I can relate to this goat's curiosity in the maze. In my early years, I had 2 goats and they got into everything! I agree that the black & white doesn't have enough punch. I really like the crop that you chose to draw focus right to where the goat was stepping. Nice image, Piers!   Posted: 10/05/2025 15:08:02

Piers, you have caught this image just at the right moment. It is a scene that many may have regarded as mundane; but with a strong crop and a good colour palette you have created a really interesting image.
I prefer the "displayed" image more that the monochrome one.
Well done and well caught.
