Congratulations on a picture with immediate impact capturing parallel lines, including parking lines on the road, and framing the family in the smoke. The blend of red, purple blue and yellow characterizes the tradition. I like the negative space on the left and think the crop is right on.   Posted: 02/04/2025 16:25:16

Welcome to our Group, Stanley.
You have certainly set a high standard with your first image. Well done.
This is a lovely bright street photo. Did you paint in the effect of the smoke with Photoshop? If you did, you did it extremely well.
To me your image conjures up a mystery. It asks a question, which is something I like. It asks, "Where are the bride and groom?" They are clearly behind the front group that you have photographed. The focus of the surrounding crowd is on them, and that is hidden from us. We have to wait to see them. I love that slight tension/mystery this creates.
Well done and keep the photos coming in

Hi, Martin
Thanks for your comments, The smoke in the photo wasn't paint with Photoshop, some people burning firecrackers in front of the team while they were moving, which produced a lot of smoke, I waited for the smoke clear up before I pressed the shutter.
The man wearing sunglasses is the groom, and the bride is the lady with a red cloth covering his face next to the groom.

I was wrong on all counts then. I assumed the bride was probably somewhere beneath the canopy behind the people in the foreground.
The smoke really adds to the image. Well done in catching it. It frames the image beautifully.
It is a great photo.   Posted: 02/05/2025 12:15:52

This is the scene at the beginning of the ceremony, and later, the bride will sit in the sedan chair behind her.   Posted: 02/05/2025 13:12:15
Welcome to the group, Stanley! Your image is so colorful and inviting. I can almost hear all the excitement going on. I love how you captured the group walking towards us, (the viewer) on somewhat of a diagonal. I am looking forward to seeing more of your photos and learning about some of the Chinese areas and traditions.   Posted: 02/07/2025 14:24:22
Dear Karen Botvin, Thank you for your appreciation, I will upload a photo every month, hope you will give more comments, so that I can learn more photography skills.   Posted: 02/07/2025 14:45:27
Stanley, welcome to our group. I feel you will give us so many different aspects of photography and tradition from your part of the world. The first thing that catches my eye in this shot is the color--very vibrant. The natural framing with the smoke adds so much, having us question if you added it. Thank you for pointing out who the bride and groom are. Now I am guessing who the others are--perhaps mother in the front and niece and nephew to add to the wedding party. A real story to tell!   Posted: 02/15/2025 18:31:46
Welcome to our group, Stanley.
Your initial image is a wonderful story-telling, very colorful image. Thank you for explaining (to others comments, above) the story behind the smoke and describing who the bride and groom are.
I love the stance of the (I'm assuming) mother in front with her left knee slightly bent, while holding the rattan fan and red cloth off to her right side. I love all the colors.   Posted: 02/18/2025 03:09:28
