About the Image(s)

Canon 7D, f/2.8, 1/800 sec. ISO 200, 100mm Macro.
I did blow this up with Topaz Gigapixel AI and then severely cropped it before doing a little minor tweaking.

It was a lucky shot to get it in focus at f/2.8.

I like how the fly stands out after your edits though some of the back ground looses its appeal. So I cropped the original and upped the contrast which seems to have got rid of the graininess in the background, color is a bit more intense too.   Posted: 07/06/2024 18:19:26

Dennis, I agree that getting a bee in flight sharply is quite a feet. The shutter speed has to be quite high just as yours is. However, you had a great deal of latitude given the iso of 800. The yellow flower is so out of focus that it is distracting. A much higher aperture would have significantly added to the focus. It's nice that the bee is in front of the flower as this allows it to be clearly seen.   Posted: 07/10/2024 17:29:01

Great shot of the bee/fly, but I agree with Neal about the flower. Maybe just crop tighter around the fly and leave out so much blur.   Posted: 07/12/2024 18:10:45

Great color and the bee is wonderfully sharp. However, it doesn't seem connected enough to the flower..it just hangs there. Some detail in the petals might have helped.   Posted: 07/15/2024 12:18:08

I do respect you at f/2.8. It is not easy to get a clear image of such a busy bee. I usually practice macro-photograph with around f/11-16, shutter speed 100s - 1000s and speed light with diffuser. Thanks for sharing your experience.   Posted: 07/21/2024 03:38:56
