August 2026 - Step Rice Field

About the Image(s)

I visited the stepped rice fields at Pa Bong Piang hill tribe village in Chiang Mai, Thailand, during the second week of July. My visit coincided with the paddy nursery phase and transplantation period.

Busy workers along with the busy scene of the freshly planted fields. Nice flow to with the parallel dikes and perpendicular rows. A day in the life photo.   Posted: 08/03/2026 02:11:44

Wow! What a great image capture. I like that the workers are separated and going in different directions. The inclusion of the pools in the background helps place the workers. Could remove the fence and construction in the background.   Posted: 08/15/2026 22:07:04

Great with the workers / lines going in different directions. The pond is a totally different shape to make it more interesting. I don't mind the fence and construction because I think it helps to set the scene. A really nice photo!   Posted: 08/17/2026 13:42:04

This is great. It would be great even without the workers but they really help tell the story. I might try to tone down the white in the top right corner. It does tend to draw my eye away.   Posted: 08/18/2026 12:30:16

This is so interesting. Capturing the fine detail of the rice stalks between the wooden path is wonderful. The one person in green going in the opposite direction is perfect as is the lone figure in the upper right. He makes the total number of figures, five. A special number.   Posted: 08/19/2026 16:20:48

This is a great image. The steps and the lines lead you back to the pool, which finishes out the scene. I also love that the one worker going right has a colored coat that contrasts the dark workers in the back. The structures are fine. They are part of the scene. This could be a wall hanger.   Posted: 08/19/2026 22:37:36
