Convergent Zone by David Robb

March 2025 - Convergent Zone

About the Image(s)

Nikon D750, 200mm, 1/400 sec, f/13, iso 100.

Lots of storms converging over Bellingham this winter with this being one of them. I was hoping for a big snow dump and it never happened. It just snowed in the peripheral of these storms.

This is quite a collection of cloud variations. I'm not sure that the trees at the bottom are even necessary. It looks like a lower sun level is warming the image. You might try to remove some of that tone.   Posted: 03/18/2025 07:35:36

I like the contrast and definition for a cold scene. I see there is one hot cloud that needs some help. Did you change the white balance?   Posted: 03/21/2025 23:00:49

Wow! it is the huge and collective cloud trays over the sky. The wind might carry the cloud away.   Posted: 03/25/2025 08:39:46

I love the different shades of grey and the shape of the clouds. The trees at the bottom give you context - these are clouds. Did you try removing them and making an abstract? Just an idea.   Posted: 03/27/2025 12:51:33

Very effective placement of the tree line. It gives a sense of depth. The problem on my screen is that there is no bottom to the image since the entire screen is black. Perhaps a thin gray frame around the image could help. Great clouds and the very light tint of pink adds interest in the sky.   Posted: 03/29/2025 13:59:25

Wow! Wouldn't want to be flying through all of that. I think I like the warmer tones. Makes it look a little more ominous. I also like Sharon's idea of just cropping the clouds and making it an abstract. Maybe bump up the contrast if you did.   Posted: 03/30/2025 23:36:41
