Hot Pepper by Dennis Hirning, FPSA, MPSA

February 2025 - Hot Pepper

About the Image(s)

Olympus TG-6, f/3.9, 13mm, 1/60 sec.
Cropped, Topaz DeNoise, Luminar AI, and anything else I could find to try to take care of problems with the Grow Light illumination.

I had a hard time finding something even halfway interesting in my January images.

I brought one of my pepper plants inside after it had been left unprotected at 28F. It was in a greenhouse last winter so it is on it's third season. It surprised me with a bunch of these little flowers last month. Last summer I had a lot of these flowers but only one managed to get a pepper. I am trying to see if I can baby it into giving me more this year.

Melancholy, soft light, flower tilted down. I want to focus on the flower but I can't. So my eyes go to the leaves as that is where the flower is pointing.   Posted: 02/14/2025 00:35:18

I like the composition, the colors and feel, but the flower is out of focus and so the eye goes to the leaf that is in focus.   Posted: 02/18/2025 19:30:56

My attention goes directly to the focused leaf. The image is not sharp with the flower and that is the main subject Not an appealing image.   Posted: 02/19/2025 19:24:09

I like the dreamy texture but I look at the sharp leaf. Not my taste.   Posted: 02/20/2025 14:22:03

I like the composition and light direction. I would like to suggest reducing the highlight on the flower slightly.   Posted: 02/22/2025 13:53:52
