About the Image(s)

I was panning to get a sense of motion of the racer. The finished picture was heavily cropped, and adjustments were made to the exposure and clarity.

You have certainly given us a feeling of motion in the image but you have not given any details of your camera settings. I suggest that either the panning is slightly out or your camera speed is a little too slow. I like motion pictures but I feel that some of it needs to be in focus and I would suggest that the rider's head and upper body should be in sharp focus.   Posted: 06/02/2021 04:07:25

Sorry, I forgot the camera settings: f-stop 11, max aperture f4.9, iso 200, shutter speed 1/30, focal length 40mm   Posted: 06/02/2021 18:49:03

I would like to see the rider's head and arms in focus, and you're almost there -- seems to me that the left hand and forearm are in best focus. But the longer I look at it, the more in-focus her face seems to be too. The technique is a challenge I've not yet begun to try but this image is inspiring my effort!   Posted: 06/06/2021 17:26:39

Great shot! Looks so cool!

I learned about how to shoot this kind in theory, but have not tried one yet.

I am curious, roughly how many pictures did you practice before getting the good results you wanted?

Thank you.   Posted: 06/15/2021 14:29:17

A few dozen. There were a number of racers and this is really the only one that came out decently. It was a challenge. I may practice some more panning on the local railroad tracks   Posted: 06/15/2021 15:42:32
