About the Image(s)

background: I meant to take a long exposure to smooth water. This one exposure is 25 seconds. It came out as a surprise.

It was windy. was it the wind? Then why did the Zen stones move?

Or was the camera moved by the wind or somehow myself? then why the stones underwater and tree trunks did not seem to move much?

I cannot quite explain. but i liked the overall effect.

All the best,

Wendy

I love a mystery. I can't explain this at all, but I am sure your charming result will get a lot of comments.   Posted: 05/04/2021 10:30:53

Very interesting, dreamy photo. I find accidental captures like this quite intriguing. I think the picture is a result of camera shake. This can happen especially with long exposures, even using a tripod. The wind, even walking around the camera during a 25-second exposure can cause movement. However, sometimes you actually want try to create this effect by what is called Intentional Camera Movement. Moving the camera up or down, side to side, diagonally, or even in circles during long exposures can create some dreamy looking pictures. Here's one of mine   Posted: 05/06/2021 13:28:24

Thank you for your encouragement!

Yesterday, I started to learn PhotoShop. Since I feel this photo is like a painting, I added an oil paint filter from Photoshop for fun. Now it is turned into painting.

There seems to be a lot of fun in photography.   Posted: 05/07/2021 09:39:35

Fun in photography is the best way to describe what you are doing, Wendy, and you're giving us a fun time too! Playing around with filters, processes, and editing ... from the moment you plan or take your photo to the post-processing output can and should be really FUN. You've given me some today, thank you.   Posted: 05/07/2021 10:40:24

OK Wendy! Thanks for submitting an accidental image. There's nothing more I like than to play with the images in DD. I do not know what Q1 is, but since you mentioned the stones I took that to be your subject. I cropped until I thought I was including essential parts and colors around the stones. I leveled the stones, then added a blur (under filters)in PS to smooth the water as you initially intended. Then I went bonkers and played with the colors and tones and even added more motion blur. FUN is my other name for photography.   Posted: 05/08/2021 19:08:58

Congratulations on a wonderful image Wendy. Composition, colours and your handling of the light are all superb. The movement lifts this image from the ordinary, to an image that will make people stop, look at and also look into. How can it be made better? Don't tell anyone you are not sure how it happened. Let us all think that you meant it to turn out like this.   Posted: 05/14/2021 04:07:57
