About the Image(s)

I am a big fan of railways and we go on organised rail trips in UK and Europe with a family owned company called RailTrail. We travel to European destinations all the way by rail from London via the Channel Tunnel. The Austrian trip was at new year 2020 and I have had to give the picture a general title because I cannot remember where it was taken. It was early evening and I was attracted by the atmosphere and particularly the headlights of the engine. I removed the people on the platform (who naturally were dressed in modern clothes), and some rather modern lights above the engine in order to give the image a more period look. It was taken at ISO 800, f5.6, 1/200 sec. I saturated the image slightly to bring out the green of the coaches.

Beautiful and Powerful!

Post process with higher contrast is like washing off the dirt off the train, making it looks newer.

Very nice photo. I can almost hear the train coming to a stop! I like the slight saturation on the cars. A small distraction are the wires above the cars. Perhaps the yellow wall on the building, because it is a vertical where all the other bright colors are horizontal, could be a just little darker so as to not stand out as much and not detract from the locomotive, but that's only my opinion. Great capture!   Posted: 05/07/2021 10:56:25
