About the Image(s)
Originally Gannets have blue eyes. After a big bird flu nearly 50% of the bird population died, especially gannets. On Helgoland, a big breeding place of the gannets you could see the drama: Many nests remains empty. And some of the gannets had either one or two black eyes. They are not blind, but the eye got another color. It was some kind of coincidence, that I got a pair with two different eyes.

Hi Peter, your visit to Heligoland was well worthwhile. Very nice high key photo of the gannets, beautiful vertical beaks and the blue eyes give your photo something special. Well done.   Posted: 10/09/2024 11:38:30

Peter, I am not not normally a fan of high key in nature but you Gannets are a pure work of art. They look like a piece that should be in a museum. Well done.   Posted: 10/14/2024 12:38:34
