About the Image(s)

Following on from Carol’s comment on my photo last month, I thought I’d select a more abstract photo from the many I took using that setup.

Canon M50ii, Canon MP-E lens, approx. 2x magnification on the sensor, Nissin ring flash on TTL, nominal f16 (so effectively f48), 1/125 sec shutter (giving -1 EV by the natural light), hand held, ISO 400, sunshine, processed in Affinity from RAW.

Hi Stuart,
The colors and different shapes create interest. I like it.   Posted: 09/04/2021 10:55:58

Wow, nice shot and a cool idea. Seen many oil/water shots that give that bubbly impression but this is nice, it's different, seems to have more depth. How do you like that Nissin ring flash? Got my eye on that, but now Godox..... has that new MF12, what to do, what to do.....   Posted: 09/26/2021 16:48:02

I don't have experience of any other ring flashes, but this Nissin one works well on my Canon. My only complaint would be that I have been unable to find any way to get it to work at all on my Olympus M1ii.   Posted: 09/28/2021 15:44:58

Very cool abstract. The vivid colors work so well for creating depth in this. Nice job!   Posted: 09/26/2021 18:50:29
