Eastern Phoebe: This photo was taken end of April at dusk. I saw an Eastern Phoebe repeatedly coming to the seed feeder in the yard. Everytime the bird flew away from the feeder there was a lot of chirping. Upon a little investigation I noticed there were two babies on a branch on the Magnolia tree cuddled up together. After a few minutes a third baby joined the group as the adult brought food as the young took turns to feed. The light was pretty low and I was shooting handheld with high winds. I had the upper limit for Auto ISO at 8000. I adjusted the shadows, exposure and highlights and then used the Denoise AI in LR, it gave a better result than Topaz Denoise.
Nikon D500: 500mm, ISO 8000, f/5.6, 1/1000s.

I'm partial to birds. Lovely family shot with the background perfectly highlighting the hungry mouth. I would clone out that little bit of leaf above the thorny branch if it were me.   Posted: 05/10/2023 22:05:48

Looks like the Denoise did a great job...I used to own the D500 and at ISO 8000 it can begin to get dicey.
Agree with Leslie about the cloning.   Posted: 05/11/2023 17:55:59

You were so lucky to have them all on the same plane!! I really like the end one sticking his nose in the air and ignoring the food mom brought! Wonderful shot!
What a great family portrait! and I found the D500 more tolerant of Iso than the 850. Particularly when paired with the 500PF. But I used both of them extensively and Denoise really can make a difference!
I might clone out the green leaf on the far right as well, or possibly just trim it lengthwise a little!   Posted: 05/15/2023 14:58:17

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I bought the 500pf because you had recommended it to me when I first started photography. It has become my go to lens for bird photography.   Posted: 05/26/2023 14:05:01
