About the Image(s)
Once a year during nesting season I go up to a small town called Fellsmere, FL to shoot Osprey. We go out on Pontoon Boats in Blue Cypress Lake to photograph nesting Ospreys. This year was especially good with hundreds of Osprey. This is probably my favorite of the batch taken that day mainly because of the magnificent wing spread.

Specifics are:

Taken on 4/15/2021 at 0748 using my Sony 7R4 and Sony 100-400 4.5-5.6 Lens
Taken at full 400mm

1/2500 sec
F/5.6
ISO 800

This is a great photo...it's hard to get a good capture shooting from below, but the fact that the Osprey's wings are fully spored and visible, and one eye is clearly seen, makes this shot a keeper, in my opinion.

Nice quality of light in the early morning.   Posted: 05/05/2021 16:19:39

This is all about 2 things...eyes and wing span. They are just magnificent creatures and certainly my favorite raptor! And the light wasn't too shabby either.   Posted: 05/06/2021 14:31:06

The eye on you makes this photo. I like how the light reflects off the white feathers, and I also like the faint streams of clouds in the sky.   Posted: 05/06/2021 12:18:17

She was checking to make sure we did not get too close to her nest! It is not uncommon to get multiple butt shots which immediately go into the trash..no eyes, no keep!   Posted: 05/06/2021 14:29:21

This is definitely a great photo.
I love the inquisitive expression on the ospreys face.   Posted: 05/06/2021 16:14:50

Hi Sherry,
Love this photo for the details in the feather, the expression in the ospreys eyes and the beautiful light. Magnificent bird indeed!
Two weeks ago as I was hiking along the Chatahoochee river I saw an osprey hovering over the water but my photos were not this sharp. I regret not taking my 500mm lens with me. Had to be satisfied with the 300mm zoom on my D500.   Posted: 05/07/2021 12:40:38
