I see two shallow cascades and a foot bridge! Where was this taken, in South Dakota? What changes did you make from your original? It appears you cropped the bottom, removing a blurred line. Did you use a tripod ? What attracted you to this particular spot?   Posted: 11/07/2023 17:39:26

This was taken at the campground we stayed at right outside of Custer State Park.
I was drawn to this spot because we had had a bunch of days with ran and I wanted to see how high the creek had gotten. The photo itself was taken from my chair while I was on a foot bridge looking down the creek. The foot bridge in the picture is actually a 4x6 timber that is across the creek.
I wanted to change the perspective that people see.
This was hand held and the crop was to remove part of the bridge I was on. I brought up the yellow in the grass. It made it feel more 'wet'

I love the way you have taken a micro scale subject and made it macro scale. The world is full of bridges and waterfalls at this scale. The grass jungle goes all the way to the rivers edge.

Thank you. I enjoy making the small world look large.   Posted: 11/28/2023 22:36:50

I like the composition with the stream flowing diagonally across the frame and with the green of the grass framing each side. For me this is a nice study in the contrast of textures and color. The lighting looks good to me however I think the focus might benefit from being a bit sharper with more depth of field.   Posted: 11/18/2023 18:50:45

Thank you. I understand it is a tad soft. Not sure if this was the camera or the operator.   Posted: 11/28/2023 22:40:25

The balance of the image is quite good. I also like your composition. The green is very nice too. Have you tried to use a slower shutter speed?   Posted: 11/19/2023 11:22:29

I am not sure why I did not use a slower shutter speed.   Posted: 11/28/2023 22:41:59

Hi Darcy, I agree with Ed, it feels like it's a bit soft focus wise. Given how close you were and looking down on the stream, I think you could have benefited with a higher ISO and smaller f-stop.
I like the composition, yet I am wanting to see more on the top of the footbridge for a bit more balance.   Posted: 11/21/2023 14:48:27

Thank you. The funny thing is what you are seeing is not a foot bridge. It is actually a 6x6 just set across the river.   Posted: 11/28/2023 22:43:40
