About the Image(s)

I took this photo with my Canon 5D Mark IV using a 50mm prime lens. I’m using ISO 400, f1.8 at 1/25 seconds. I cropped it slightly and played around with clarity, texture, and tone. I then desaturated it to make it black and white. I think the black and white helps to focus on the expressions of the people.

What a good idea for an image. It also looks as though the man on the RHS is looking at you, plus with the reflection of the people. Looks great.   Posted: 08/10/2022 06:57:15

Hi Beth, I think this is a great image and I love the B&W rendering. To me it tells an interesting story and I like the brief eye contact made by the man, he gets a glimpse of you but it is not posed. If you lightened the shadow on his face would you get a better look at his eyes?   Posted: 08/10/2022 15:30:53

Thanks for the good suggestion. It did improve the photo when I lightened the shadow.   Posted: 08/11/2022 08:33:06

Yes, the black and white version is best for a lot of reasons. Getting the detail back in the mans face is important. A fun shot and your wait to get the capture was worth it. Good work. Boosting the ISO would be appropriate here.
