Beautiful colors! And, I really like that you've captured the image being painted. I find the bags distracting and I want the artist to be more to the left.   Posted: 05/06/2022 08:19:28

I think this is a beautiful image, I love the colors and I think the sky adds to the image. At first I felt the way Beth described but after looking at the image longer I think that I like the bags being present. I do feel that the artist being more to the left of the image would improve the composition.   Posted: 05/06/2022 11:54:55

In my view the stuff on the lower right needs to stay. It helps the story of this plein air artist. They need stuff with them. It is a picture that begs for the rule of thirds. I got as close as I could. Suggest step back a couple of steps then two more to the left. Or not.

Thank you for your comments it illustrates the challenges of street photography. I had considered all the issues that you mentioned. I had driven past this scene on quite a busy road stopped and walked back. I took a few images on different angles across the road and then crossed over and took some more where her painting was the focus but you could not get a sense of the scene. I worked on de-saturating the bags as the red one was very bright and distracting, I tried her more to the left but that angle cut out the painting, angles were limited as I had to stay on the footpath. I wanted the sky, the scene and the painting, the best spot would have been the middle of the road! As I could not change elements as she was unaware I was taking photos, but I did have a great conversation with her afterwards as I photographed the river. Always lots to explore and try different things.   Posted: 05/06/2022 19:32:00

Jill - great image, yes at times it is a choice of what to crop out and what to stay in the image, but I agree that you to have the bags in the image, as painters have a lot of stuff to carry.   Posted: 05/15/2022 06:36:59

Great image. I think you captured many angles in one photo. I can see different views and ideas expressed . I can also read so many stories. Bravo!   Posted: 05/18/2022 19:12:15
