About the Image(s)

This was taken early on morning in the French Quarter a few years ago. I like to get out early, especially in a strange city, to see the morning activity which is often quite interesting and varied.

This image was taken with a Canon 6D, Tamron 28-300 lens at 200mm, f9.0, 1/30 sec at ISO 800. I cropped the image and made a few other adjustments in Lightroom. The image was taken hand held and the low light and slow shutter speed resulted in an image that although I liked quite well it lacked sufficient sharpness, therefore I imported a copy into Topaz Sharpen_Ai, which I think helped the image quite a bit.

Lou, if I didn't read your description and would have said this is a great panning where the face is sharp. Obviously the Topaz Sharpen AI did a great job. I am in group 58, a street scenes as well and love this type of photography.   Posted: 01/02/2022 11:40:03

Hi, thanks for the comments. Yes, Topaz saved the image, my panning was not very good. Even without Topaz I really like the feeling of the image.   Posted: 01/02/2022 16:06:11

Wow I love what you did with this picture. I actually love the whole picture it is a true street photo. You really got a feel for the neighborhood in the morning. I love what you did with Topaz I have been very tempted to get the software. But I have just learned how to use Photoshop. And that has changed so many times this year. Great job love it!   Posted: 01/02/2022 20:31:54

Thanks Marianne. Regarding Topaz, it is really simple to use, much, much simpler than PS. Of course TOPAZ Ai only does one thing, but I think it does it well.   Posted: 01/02/2022 20:58:53

A classic street shot showing a human going about their daily business or routine. The use of Topaz definitely helped sharpen the image where necessary. I used Topaz denoise for my photo which taken at 1000 ISO, needed some help to reduce the noise.   Posted: 01/02/2022 21:32:50

Thanks for the comments Ron. I sometimes have need for the denoise myself, I think it works quite well.   Posted: 01/03/2022 10:59:50

For me, you have cropped and processed the image very well. I do not see distracting noise in the image and nothing wrong with ISO 800. You could have gone higher. You panning technique is great.   Posted: 01/04/2022 14:41:14
