About the Image(s)

I took this photo of an iconic Sacramento hotel slated for demolition to pave way for a more modern hotel. This photo was taken back in 2017 before the demolition occurred. The idea of the photo was to combine street photography with urban decay.

Nikon D3400, 100 ISO, 18mm, 5.6, 1/60 of a second

Making it monochrome removes the greenish cast. What do you think of making it BW? So, I coiuldn't just stop there so I cropped it and straightened the vertical lines to make the perspective normal. Made a couple of color to BW adjustments just to my taste and added a little vignetting. Done in Luminar AI.   Posted: 11/10/2021 15:58:21

Thank you Chuck, the editing looks good. I feel good about it being in black and white given the photo subjects nature. I like the Luminar AI look.   Posted: 11/13/2021 18:02:55

Nice photo depiction. Makes you feel the emptiness. I like black and white for photos that are desolate. It makes your mind look inside for the colors that were once there.   Posted: 11/16/2021 21:05:05

Hi Brandon, nice image. I like desolate and dystopian looks. I think the monochrome looks good, it adds to a desolate feeling. Having said that I do like the color image as well. In color I think you could crop off a bit on the right, just to get rid of the light pole. The pole doesn't bother me in the monochrome version.   Posted: 11/22/2021 10:17:50
