About the Image(s)

This was taken in New Orleans in April 2019 at the French Quarter Jazz Festival. Camera Canon 6D, Tamron 28-300 at 133 mm, f 14, 1/80 second ISO 1600. In Lightroom I cropped and straightened the image. I also cloned out a couple of overly bright spots. I think the image is a little soft but it was taken in the evening in low light.

Softness of this image in not distracting to my eye. I dont know why you stopped the lens down to f/14. It would be successful at wide open if you focused on her right eye. Exposure, contrast ar good. Good job in straightening the vertical lines. You might try adding a vignette next time. Use of ISO 1600 is fine.   Posted: 09/06/2021 16:40:14

Hi Chuck, thanks for the comments. I have no reason for the f/14 setting, I don't think it was intentional. I probably had it set for the prior photo and forgot to change it. I'll try a vignette, what I should have done is put a narrow border around the image, the black of her clothes blends into the dark surrounding screen.   Posted: 09/07/2021 13:55:54

Great image with excellent framing. I love how the subject is presented in this photo. I see the subject fully engaged, which adds to the stories photo element. I don't see the image as a little soft as I believe the subject and lighting go well together.   Posted: 09/28/2021 06:15:31

Hi
Great capture. I like the way the colors blend into her thoughts. She looks as if she is having fun, yet she knows something seriously important to share. Hard photo to capture with that much expression. Nice job!

Lovely portrait showing real engagement and concentration. the composition is good. I would perhaps try toning down her face a little, just experiment and see what you think.   Posted: 09/30/2021 02:38:52
