Swim At Your Own Risk by Marianne Barnhardt

September 2021 - Swim At Your Own Risk

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken last week in Miami on South Beach. These are the new lifeguard houses. The only problem is that there aren't enough lifeguards to go around so there are spots of people. Where there are lifeguards there are hundreds of people. Where there is no lifeguard like here. Only a couple of swimmers.
Taken with my Sony a9, Aperture f/40, 100mm-400mmlens with a 1.4 teleconverter. ISO 2000

Its a pretty fuzzy image for my taste. Grainy. Suggest softening the vignette as it is a little much. Watermarks are distracting and really do nothing to protect your art. Just saying. Wondering what the original looked like.   Posted: 09/06/2021 16:59:14

I agree with Chuck about the watermark, I use one when I post on FB just because I can and as a matter of what? vanity?

Anyhow, I like the softness. When I first saw this I thought is this an image from the 50's. I agree with Chuck that a little less vignetting might work well. I think you did a good job capturing an interesting subject.   Posted: 09/17/2021 16:23:17

I like the framing and how the subject is positioned. I do see a sense of nostalgia in this image, which I believe comes from the black and white. I would also remove the watermark, but the grainy does show a unique feel.   Posted: 09/28/2021 06:25:39

Thanks all. It was a poorly shot photo. I was about 300 feet away and moving. Here is original. It took a lot to clean.   Posted: 09/28/2021 06:55:51
