About the Image(s)

My wife and I visited the town of Newport on the Oregon coast in October. We took our travel trailer, staying an RV park on Yaquina Bay with a terrific view of the Newport's famous bridge. I wandered over to the adjacent marina one morning and was struck by the still water and the bridge's reflection. I had both my conventional camera and my IR camera and shot the scene with both. The IR image goes a step beyond the "postcard shot".
Processed in Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC.
Sony A6500, full spectrum conversion, 590nm filter. Sony 18-105 f/4 lens. ISO 400, 18mm, f/11, 1/250 second, shot handheld.

I think the orange cast makes this image. I tried to give it another impression with a channel swap, but totally failed. Nice bridge, nice image   Posted: 01/14/2022 17:57:35

Thanks, Chuck. I played around quite a bit with the channels myself. Orange seems to be what the image called out for.   Posted: 01/14/2022 18:14:23

The compositional hook for me is the atmosphere and mood of the image. The emotionally calm peaceful water in this quiet morning scene is well seen and captured. The IR is processed to emphasize the the moody ominous sky and distant foliage. With a beautiful bridge reflection to boot! The visual relationships are orderly, balanced and feeds back to your peaceful morning. Very nice.   Posted: 01/17/2022 15:07:28
