About the Image(s)

We visited a nearby Tulip farm in mid-April. They had an old truck near the display garden with a variety of displays in the bed. It was a bright day so shadows were strong, but I liked the way they interacted with the subjects. Processed in Lightroom with some cleanup and dodging and burning in Photoshop.
Sony A6500 converted to full spectrum, 720 nm filter, Sony 18-105 f/4 lens. 43mm, f/8, 1/80 second, ISO320. Shot handheld.

Very nice tonality and composition. The shadows are a plus, in my opinion, enhancing the contrast nicely.   Posted: 05/03/2021 23:46:59

Henry: Let me first agree with all Chuck has said. I do like the B&W rendition. It is immediately recognizable as an Infrared image. I would add that I like the different textures represented. There is the rustic texture of the old milk can, the smoother texture of the bushel basket, the delicate texture of the tulips, etc. The only problem with the IR here is that there is little difference in tone between the tulip plant and the tulip bloom. I have no answer for that.   Posted: 05/04/2021 10:20:43

Nice job on the right basket, in the original it looks black. I find the background distracting. I agree with Chan on the tulip plant and blooms. Might try isolating the blooms in a layer and working it in Camera Raw to gain some separation with hue/sat between the two. Good composition   Posted: 05/06/2021 18:50:49
