Frans, welcome to DD90. Love your photo. When you can see the water drops a bird is spreading on take off it adds to the photo for me. I also like that the background is blurred but you still know what the environment is. I also favor photos where the bird fills the frame.   Posted: 06/09/2022 07:35:31

Ginny, Thanks for giving me credits for this image. The white stuffs are dust from the bird feathers. I have submitted this image for several salons. However, it get no more than 'accepted'. :)   Posted: 06/09/2022 19:26:14

Very nice shot. Good separation from the background.   Posted: 06/11/2022 09:33:29

Hi Frans, welcome. Really nice image of the heron; particularly enjoy the dynamic angle of the bird in the frame with space to move into. The highlights are well controlled and nice detail in the darks. The top of the bill looks a bit burned out to me. If it were mine, I think I would have lifted the shadows in the background a tad and perhaps slightly desaturated the greens. Either that or darkened the blues in the background to the left to make the bird stand out more. The standard of nature is so high these days to get awards is very demanding.   Posted: 06/11/2022 16:18:02

Hello Frans, I like the capture and the timing. I would consider removing the branches in the lower right foreground either via a clone or crop.   Posted: 06/11/2022 23:19:45
