May 2022 - Trusting Sibling

About the Image(s)

I have never been particularly interested in taking images of mammals but I quite enjoy this image because it clearly shows a trusting bond between the siblings although their play-fights seemed pretty real to me! Negligible processing [Nikon D850 hand-held, 200-500mm lens at 320mm, f6.3, exp 1/500s, iso400].

So clear you can see that the claws are not fully extended! for my eyes (and mind) the background needs to be less focused. The foreground is great - it demonstrates how they can hide in plain view. The eyes of the one part way up are very nice.   Posted: 05/04/2022 09:48:46

I like this image. It is sharp and I like the symmetry of one eye of each tiger visible. You might try blurring the green leaves a bit more, but the story you are telling is obvious. Wondering if you would have gotten enough detail of the tigers if shot at f5.6? Might have blurred the background a little more, but again not a big deal.   Posted: 05/18/2022 07:43:34

Thanks both, I agree the background needs to be more oof and f5.6 would probably have been a better option but did not have time to really think through my options before they moved on.
