Such detail! You can almost see cells! I love the way the background complements and enhances the dragonfly.   Posted: 07/06/2021 14:55:31

Very nice image of a dragonfly. It appears to be tack sharp and a very appropriate depth of field to highlight the subject. I think your composition is spot on with a balance of space above and around the subject. The green background certainly compliments the blue subject well. I think the dragonfly needs a bit of shadow reduction to bring out the wings and back. That would best be done using the adjustment brush in Lightroom set for "dodging" with the shadow slider somewhere to the right of center. Well done.   Posted: 07/09/2021 14:56:49

Hi Dan, really enjoy your dragonfly image, well caught. There is a classic symmetry to the image and most importantly the insect is sharp throughout. If this was my image, I would want to lighten up the blacks and reduce the luminance in the background greens. The latter is easy enough to do in camera raw filter under color mixer. The bright spot [bottom right] is distracting and you should try to reduce that if you can, but judging from the color of the bright spot you may have already tried this! Dodging with a 10% brush should help to bring detail into the blacks on the wing and thorax but may also produce artifacts if pushed too far.   Posted: 07/21/2021 05:38:42
